Gor Mahia matches now to be played at Kasarani

Following the recent hooliganism and running riots that saw Gor Mahia fans vandalise public vehicles over the weekend, the club has now been ordered to play all their matches with immediate effect at the 60,000 seater Moi International Sports centre Kasarani.

   This means the club’s traditional home ground-Nairobi City Stadium will be a no-go zone for any activity involving the club.The new measures will be in effect until the club provides Football Kenya Federation (FKF), Kenya Premier League (KPL) and sponsor’s Supersport with a detailed safety and security plan and Anti-hooganism policy for all future matches in accordance with the rules governing Kenya football and ensure the implementation policy by December 30^th 2012.

    FKF, KPL and Supersports officials met on Wednesday morning in Nairobi where they agreed to lift temporarily the ban on televising Gor Mahia matches until investigations are concluded and the FKF and KPL disciplinary bodies deliberate and submit their decision by next Friday November 23, 2012.

  The club was also directed to initiate the process in identifying the perpetrators and hooligans and charge them in a court of law.

  The pre-event safety & security meeting for the FKF cup semi finals shall be held on Thursday (tomorrow November 15) at 11am at Kasarani Stadium.It will involve the four participating clubs, officials and later a peaceful procession at 2pm.

  The two semi final matches slated for this weekend will however be televised live by Supersport Channel.
