After a two month break,the Tanzanian Mainland soccer League resumed
on Saturday with defending Champions Simba Sports Club demolishing
African Lyon 3-0 in a thrilling encounter staged at the Dar es
salaam National Stadium.
Simba coached by Serbian Milovan Cirkovic took the lead barely
after 23 minutes through Uganda Cranes International Emmanuel Okwi.
Two minutes later,Simba extended their lead when Nassoro Masoud
slammed the ball home after combining well with former Azam FC hottest
property Mrisho Ngassa for a 2-0 half time lead.
Ghana import Daniel Akuffor made his presence felt with a third
goal in the dying minute through a spot kick to silence their
visitors.
Popularly known as ‘Msimbazi Reds”,Simba are now leading with three
points after one match.
Arch-rivals and Kagame Cup Champions Yanga (Young Africans) were held
away to a barren draw by Prisons of Mbeya at the Sokoine Memorial
Stadium.
Elsewhere, In Kagera, a 56th minute goal by Abdulrahman Humud of Azam
FC condemned hosts Kagera Sugar to a 1-0 defeat in another league
match at the Kaitaba Stadium.
At the CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza, Kenya’s Jerry Santos steered
Coastal Union to a hard laboured 1-0 win over visiting Mgambo JKT.
In Morogoro, hosts Morogoro Police were held to a scoreless draw by
visiting Mtibwa Sugar.
