Mwango wants Gor to hire financial institutions

By Fred Maingi
Former Gor Mahia Chairman Fred Mwango has advised the club to consider
hiring financial institutions to curb misappropriation of gate
collection.
Mwango said it was unfortunate “Ticket Masters” who were contracted
to carry out the exercise had failed with the club realizing meager
figures in their home matches. He dismissed the recent mid-week Tusker
premier League (TPL) tie pitting Gor Mahia and Sony Sugar at the
Nairobi City Stadium that realized a paltry Shs.1.6 million when the
stadium was packed to the brim.
He advised the club to consider contracting financial institutions
like Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), Equity Bank, Co-operative Bank or
Internationally acclaimed G4S services.
‘The club is losing a lot of money by outsourcing to substandard
private groups. The best alternative to curb the vice is by hiring the
ticket service to renown  financial institutions like  G4S ,Equity
Bank,Co-Operative Bank or KCB for that matter.I don’t agree that Gor
Mahia match against Sony Sugar raised a  paltry Shs.1.6 million.”
Observed Mwango.
Mwango who is a senior Deputy Secretary in the ministry of public
Health and sanitation said even the fans that broke one of the gates
and got inside had already paid.He said the fans who found their way
in were fully armed with tickets and so Ticket Masters should not
portray that fans entered the pitch without paying.
He further appealed to security agents led by the Police to be
taught on crowd management  and avoid throwing teargas aimlessly. He
exonerated fans from blame saying they always react when they are
provoked.
“I do blame, added Mwango, Sports Stadia management Board, Gor
Mahia and the Security organ for security lapse that saw fans break
one of the main gates.I’m appealing for adequate security measures to
be taken during Saturday’s big derby involving AFC Leopards and Gor
Mahia”
